Christmas Eve

Trying to fall asleep on Christmas eve when you are a child is probably one of the most difficult tasks ever. You try to tell your brain to fall asleep but you only find yourself more awake. You spend a couple minutes rolling around with your eyes closed and eventually sit up in silence and stare at the wall. Then, your mind starts to wander.
¨Does a straw have one hole, or two?¨
¨How many licks DOES it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?¨
¨If i ate myself, would I be twice the size or would I disappear completely?¨
You eventually snap back to reality and look at the alarm clock.
12:42 a.m.
You decide to lay back down and count sheep. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
¨I give up.¨ you say aloud along with a long sigh. You look at the alarm clock again.
8:26 a.m.
